December Education

Last chance for CE!  Our annual December Education session will be held on December 4 and 5 at the Ramkota in Bismarck.  Casey Chapman, Legal Counsel, will be teaching Risk Reduction (pending ND CE approval) and It’s All About the Words (ND CE1213-034, MN CE 1012850) on December 4 and Dave Flohr, ND Housing Finance Agency, will be teaching FirstHome Essentials (CE1314-024) on the morning of December 5.  Registration details will be coming soon!  Mark your calendars today!

 

October NDAR Meetings

Come to Minot on October 23!  There will be a General Membership meeting at 12:00pm, a Board of Directors meeting at 12:15pm, and then 2014 President Vicki Roller will start her Leadership Retreat.  The Leadership Retreat will wrap up around 12:30 on the 24th!

Debt Ceiling: Lost Sales if Rates Rise

NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun in a four-minute video with REALTOR® Magazine says home sales could decline by up to 450,000 units if mortgage interest rates rise by one percentage point as a result of investor concerns over a breached federal debt ceiling. Yun says the government will face tough choices on whether to cut spending or allow interest rate payments to lapse should no solution be worked out. Access and link to the video.

 

Senators Urge FHFA Not to Change Loan Limits

NAR sent a letter to FHFA urging them not to lower the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae loan limits, asserting they do not have the authority to do so, and arguing against reducing mortgage liquidity across the nation. In August, FHFA announced the intention to lower the loan limits to encourage private growth in the mortgage market. Last week, 13 senators also sent a letter objecting to the lowering of loan limits.
